Whether you’re short on time or just craving something chocolatey, this ridiculously easy chocolate walnut fudge is the perfect little treat. Rich chocolate and crunchy walnuts make it indulgent and delicious.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • This fudge only takes about 5 minutes to make
  • It’s so easy it’s practically foolproof
  • All of the ingredients are simple and easy to find at most grocery stores

Ingredients for microwave fudge

All you need for this fudge is:

  • Chocolate chips
  • A tub of chocolate frosting
  • Walnuts

You can add a pinch of salt if you want—the salt helps round out the sweetness from the chocolate, but it’s not necessary!

How to make your fudge

how to make chocolate walnut fudge in the microwave

  • Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl
  • Stir in melted chocolate frosting
  • Add walnuts and stir to combine
  • Spread evenly in an 8-inch baking dish

And that’s it! Just chill for a couple of hours, then slice and serve.

How to store your fudge

Uneaten chocolate walnut fudge can be stored in an airtight container, layered with wax paper, in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Fudge can also be stored in the freezer (in an airtight container) for about two months.

Recipe notes and tips for perfect fudge

• Don’t scorch your chocolate chips! Microwave the chips in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each. Stirring well helps the chips melt without additional heat, which can cause the chips to burn.

• I used Duncan Hines creamy chocolate frosting for my fudge.

• This fudge can crumble if it’s too cold when you try to slice it. Let it sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes to warm up before slicing.

Recipe variations

• Use milk or dark chocolate chips
• Use a different nut—pecans are delicious in fudge
• Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract when you mix in the walnuts
• Add a teaspoon or two of instant espresso powder for mocha fudge (again, mix in with the walnuts)

Whip up delicious chocolate walnut fudge in just minutes, using chocolate chips, chocolate frosting, and walnuts. This recipe is made in the microwave, no candy thermometer necessary, and turns out delicious every time.

Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: 49 pieces
Author: Kelsie
Ingredients
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 16-ounce tub chocolate frosting*
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt optional
Instructions
  1. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Place the chocolate chips in a large microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth. (Sometimes they don’t melt well-just keep stirring and eventually they’ll get smooth.)
  3. Remove the lid and foil top from the tub of frosting and heat until pourable, about 20 to 30 seconds.
  4. Pour the frosting over the melted chips, then add the walnuts and the salt (if using). Quickly stir to combine, then pour into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  5. Refrigerate for 2 hours, or until set. Remove from the fridge and let sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes (if you don’t let it sit the fudge can be a little crumbly when you slice it).
  6. Slice and serve.
Recipe Notes
  • Uneaten fudge can be stored in an airtight container, layered with wax paper, in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • It can also be stored in the freezer (again in an airtight container) for about two months.
  • *I used Duncan Hines creamy chocolate frosting.
